Journeys on the Soul Roads

As our 5th year in the studio comes to a close and we embark on the next, it has been a time for many reflections and some very satisfying upgrades in several areas.

1. First and foremost, I will be able to focus far more on my Art | Stories with a reduction in my tech consulting work. I strongly support the work of WARM and will continue to provide backend support for them, but have handed over the Newsletter to the very capable Vanessa Merry and am more than happy to let the growing Board handle more of their social media and exhibition details going forward.

2. My first solo show, Fibers of the Soul, at the Hallberg Center for the Arts in Wyoming, MN opened on March 22. Visitors at the opening reception and at the Songwriters in the Round event the following week were great to connect with and enthusiastic about the Art | Stories, enough that I intend to insist from now on that the stories be displayed with the pieces for any shows that my work appears in. (Many venues have refused to include them in the past.)I was also asked if I had something that explained how the stories come to be for times when I was not there to explain in person, so I will be posting that here as well as soon as I get it written!

3. Kim Buell, my original studio partner, will be splitting her time between the Twin Cities and Michigan going forward, so she has reduced her footprint in the studio even further, giving us room to add display space for an additional guest artist as well as changing our storage configuration. This means that the gallery got some additional display walls, a new layout, and upgrades to the paint and signage. Each artist now has their names up in their sections to help people keep each of us straight, and, wow, did that make a difference!

New studio wall lettering! This will change a lot when I get my pieces back from the show at WACAC; right now I am depending on some lovely loans of hand dyed wraps and scarves from artist Carole Hallman, of Delightfully Dyed , to fill out my display.
